WindPole Ventures, LLC (WPV) has acquired exclusive access to over 1,000 sites throughout the US that will be the base for prospecting and evaluating attractive sites for future wind power generating facilities. The map below is a schematic representation of the sites, many of which are in states with high electricity prices and favorable regulatory environments. WPV believes these existing communication sites mitigate many of the risks currently associated with wind power development and give it two important advantages: lower cost to develop wind power facilities and less time needed to qualify, permit and construct wind power facilities than other wind power developments. WPV believes this large national portfolio significantly mitigates the risk of “betting the farm” on one location that may drag on for years of delay and planning cost.
Each of the sites in the WPV portfolio has the following:
- an existing well-maintained steel lattice tower of between 170 and 350 feet
- high altitude, open, long line of sight
- power lines or conduit that connect to the electricity distribution and transmission system
- industrial support buildings totaling 5.16 million square feet
- access roads and cleared support sites
- solid subsurface conditions that lower foundation construction costs
- permits from key agencies including local zoning boards, the FAA and FCC
- varying land sizes totaling more than 4,900 acres
- communities that have been in proximity and exposed to these towers including their night-time aircraft warning lights for more than 40 years
